Rockin' the Celtic Style
I just wanted to send off a note in appreciation for Coyote Run's enthusiastic shows and personable public relations while out at the PSG this last week.

I've known Michael (the bass player) by sight since 2003 or so. When we met again at a party last year, I was (to say the least) surprised to discover we hang out with the same people. Later, on a mailing list, he mentioned he'd found a part in a fairly local band, and I thought really nothing of it; there are a lot of local bands after all, and (truth be told) Celtic music has never really been big on my radar. I made a note to see him play if it fit in my work schedule and to look for him at the next party if all else failed.

Then I start seeing bumper stickers in the Hampton area, and I thought, whoa, that's the band Michael's been talking about; very happy for the apparent success that a bumper sticker on more than one car in the 7 cities illustrates. :) I made a point to look up the next show and really planned to make it. He's a great guy and I wanted to show my support. I ended up missing it, though, and had to plan for the next one.

Now, after finally seeing them play and witnessing what they bring to the table as far as showmanship, synchronicity and downright fun, I've shifted from casual interest on Michael's behalf to just plain delight for all of them.

It's really rare to meet people in a band who can just chit-chat without lapsing into the "stage" persona. Having Doug walk up last minute and didge for us in the earth corner at the bonfire was friggin' awesome. I had no idea who the heck he was, just that he was nice and wanted to be a part of it all, no different from the rest of us.

Just being cool and getting down with us in our campsite was so awesome of Zack, I felt like I was grinning like an idiot the whole time. To top it off, the campfire workshop was hella fun; Ms. Catherine so generous with her bells and tambourines, and David was super awesome to the young guy on his trombone... To say nothing of everyone's grace and patience with sound issues on stage and all the little frustrations that go with putting on an outside show in tricky weather.

Nothing makes a fan faster than getting to know the people behind the music, so I just wanted to express my happiness in the introduction, and my heartfelt well wishes for the rest of the tour this summer. I'll be seeing them on their way back through Williamsburg, and I encourage everyone I know to do the same. - Baya , posted 06/26/08
